1. Get the Mixed Theme Package from:

    http://www.vakuumverpackt.de/fvwm/


2. Make a backup of your current .fvwm2rc configuration file:

    $ cd
    $ mv -i .fvwm2rc .fvwm2rc-backup


3. Extract the package into the .fvwm directory:

    $ bash --version
    GNU bash, version 4.1.5(1)-release (i486-pc-linux-gnu)

    $ wget --version
    GNU Wget 1.12 built on linux-gnu.

    $ cd
    $ mkdir .fvwm
    $ cd .fvwm
    $ wget http://www.vakuumverpackt.de/fvwm/MixedThemePackage-0.6.tar.gz
    $ tar -zxvf MixedThemePackage-0.6.tar.gz
    $ ln -s -f MixedThemePackage-0.6 MixedThemePackage


4. Convert the wallpapers to PNG:

    $ convert --version
    Version: ImageMagick 6.6.0-4 2010-11-16 Q16 http://www.imagemagick.org

    $ cd ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/themes
    $ find * -name 'wallpaper*.jpg' -print -exec convert -set filename:name "%d/%t" {} %[filename:name].png \;


5. Get the wallpapers for the green stripes and grey stripes theme from LouieMantia.com:

    $ unzip -v
    UnZip 6.00 of 20 April 2009, by Debian. Original by Info-ZIP.

    $ cd
    $ mkdir LouieMantia.com
    $ cd LouieMantia.com
    $ wget http://www.louiemantia.com/files/desktops/sgwa_w.zip
    $ unzip sgwa_w.zip

    Create the wallpaper of the green stripes theme:

    $ mkdir greenstripes
    $ cd greenstripes
    $ cp "../SG Wall/SG Striped Wallpaper #11.jpg" wallpaper-1920x1200.jpg
    $ convert wallpaper-1920x1200.jpg wallpaper-1920x1200.png
    $ convert -filter cubic -resize 1280x1024! wallpaper-1920x1200.png wallpaper-1280x1024.png
    $ mv -i wallpaper*.png ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/themes/greenstripes/images/
    $ cd ..

    Create the wallpaper of the grey stripes theme:

    $ mkdir greystripes
    $ cd greystripes
    $ cp "../SG Wall/SG Striped Wallpaper #14.jpg" wallpaper-1920x1200.jpg
    $ convert wallpaper-1920x1200.jpg wallpaper-1920x1200.png
    $ convert -filter cubic -resize 1280x1024! wallpaper-1920x1200.png wallpaper-1280x1024.png
    $ mv -i wallpaper*.png ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/themes/greystripes/images/
    $ cd ..

    Cleaning up:

    $ rm -rf "SG Wall" "__MACOSX" greenstripes greystripes


6. Create a symbolic link to select a theme.

    If you prefer the air1 theme then create the following link:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/air1-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/air1-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the air2 theme:

        1280x1024, 1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/air2.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the blue theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/blue.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the blue stripes theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/bluestripes-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/bluestripes-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the cable theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/cable-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/cable-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the deer theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/deer.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the elegant stripes theme:

        1280x1024, 1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/elegantstripes.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the green theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/green.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the green stripes theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/greenstripes-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/greenstripes-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the grey stripes theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/greystripes-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/greystripes-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the meadow theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/meadow.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the orange theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/orange.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the pink theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/pink-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/pink-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the waiting room theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/waitingroom-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/waitingroom-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

    For the wheat theme:

        1280x1024:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/wheat-1280x1024.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc

        1920x1200:

            $ ln -s ~/.fvwm/MixedThemePackage/wheat-1920x1200.fvwm ~/.fvwm2rc


7. Start X and FVWM:

    $ startx
